One of the major annoyances customers experience with websites is trying to locate contact details, especially phone numbers. Amusingly, the worst offenders are often large corporations who should know better!
My preference is to include some basic contact details below the footer of every page on the website. This means that no matter which page your customer is on, the moment they make a buying decision they don’t need to search hard to find out how to contact you.
Have a clear, easy to find contact page. This should include your extended contact details including details like a map to your shop or office, your fax number, postal address and a contact form.
Please post great examples of contact pages you’ve seen on your surfing travels.

This is especially annoying when the contact details are contained in an image. Therefore the search engines can’t read them and I can’t copy and paste the email or telephone number into another application.
Also, please please please don’t hide your email address by containing it in a link. Type your email address in full and also make it a link giving people the choice of ‘Clicking to email’ or copying or writing your email down to use later.
I find it ironic that nickyjurd.com has no contact details at all.
How do you feel about people like me, who don’t like to give out their phone/email to random visitors? My website only has an email form and a PO Box. Of course, I’m not trying to build a business around my website.
Hah, yeah good point Abhi. I also wasn’t trying to build a business around my blog, so there are legitimate reasons for not displaying contact details prominently.
But, you inspired me to get a contact page just the same!
I wonder if this guy wants to be contacted?
To obtain his email address you need to solve a word puzzle.
